3D Studio Max (3dsmax) is a 3D modeling, animation, and rendering tool.
It is owned by Autodesk, an United States (San Rafael, California) based company.

Create an egg (using lathe).



Information
This guide is based on 3D Studio Max 7.

Procedure
  1. Draw an ellipse.

    3DSMax 7: Select eclipse.

    • Select in Create panel: Shapes button.
    • Press button: Ellipse
    • In the Keyboard Entry rollout, enter:

      Length=50
      Width=37

    • Press Create button

  2. Shape the Ellipse into an egg.

    • In the top viewport, right click on the created ellipse to display a quad menu.

    • Select menu: Convert To: | Convert to Editable Spline

    • Again, right click on the created ellipse to display a quad menu.
    • Select menu: Refine

    • Add two vertices in the displayed locations.

    • Select on toolbar: Select and Move

    • Select the created vertex on the right. Select the Y-axis and move it slightly down.

    • Do the same for the created left vertex If needed you can also move the top or bottom vertex resp. up or down.

  3. The 2D egg image must be rotated around is Y-axis, to create an egg shape.

    • Select the egg image.
    • Select the Modify panel:

    • Open the Modifier List and select Lathe (NOT Lattice). In the perspective view you should the egg.
